Online Introduction
Our one-hour online course provides an introduction to
experience-based decision-making for officers and officer
candidates. It describes the recognition-primed decision model
and its application to fire scene management.
A guest instructor from the firefighting community will discuss
a real incident relevant to firefighters across the nation and
discuss what went right, what went wrong, and the lessons
learned. Key decision points and decision processes will be
identified and analyzed.
The course will be available as standalone training or as an
introduction to more in-depth courses. It is a pre-requisite to the
two-day workshop and the AlphaACT® technology used for
skills retention.
Two-Day Workshop
This workshop blends lecture, table-top drills, group
discussions, and field exercises. The focus is on hands-on skills
development with just enough classroom work to establish a
solid foundation. Attendees will walk away knowing how to use
structured decision-making based on the recognition-primed
decision model. This two-day course includes one month’s
access to the AlphaACT® technology for online skills retention
exercises.
Skills Retention
Repetition and reinforcement are keys to retaining new skills.
AlphaTRAC provides after-course access to the AlphaACT®
technology, which uses scenarios in an engaging and timesensitive
training environment to help users retain what they
have learned.
It is available through an annual subscription that includes
access to our online introduction. It is free for a month to those
who take the two-day workshop.
